May 19, 2014 Try creating a new document and spell something wrong. See if you can correct spelling. Now open one of your documents that the spelling is not working. Do ⌘-A to select all Now go back to Dictionaries. Check to see whether a specific language as been set or you greeted with a Blank button where (none) should be.

Installation

  • install from Brackets Extension manager (tool bar / File Menu). Search for spell-check

or

  • Launch Brackets ( > 0.18.x), choose Show Extensions Folder from the Help menu.
  • Place SpellCheck in the Extensions folder, i.e. on Mac /Users/jh/Library/Application Support/Brackets/extensions/user/ directory.
  • Reload brackets.

Usage

  • Select text and then select the command Check Spelling - English from the Edit menu, or by right clicking and selecting the command from the context menu. This will hi-lite any words in the selection that have spelling hints available. If no text selection is made the whole document will be checked
  • Navigate cursor to a high-lighted word and hit CTRL-space to open the hint list dropdown.
  • select suggestion from dropdown to apply
